About nyX

Welcome to nyX

nyX is a Lord of the Rings Online Kinship on Elendilmir and was founded in June 2007. It a midsized Kinship with a mix of US and Oceania players. Our Primary focus is on end-game raidng and instances, whilst maintaining a close, friendly atmosphere throughout.

It is important to us that we know each other and can go the extra mile to one another when needed. Real life comes first and participation in events such as raiding is up to each player. Some of use push to max our characters, whilst others take things more leisurely, all of us enjoy the game and dedicate a lot our time to it. Several members are married, professionals, parents etc which makes us a kinship of mature players, but we still like to have fun even with our old age.

We strive to be as professional with our engame activities as we can be, through use of well thought out strategies, fair looting guides and leadership.

nyX is an ever evolving kinship with changes in game, leadership, and  new members. We learn and adapt to keep the game fresh and interesting for all.

Three Cheers! ! !

Greetings and Happy New Year!

The Officer Roundtable has been established for 2012!

It is with great appreciation and enthusiasm that we welcome the following promotions in our kin:

Fenir - Officer
Malekai - Officer
Foxbrook - Officer

Each is a gifted player with a unique leadership style and varied set of talents.

All are skilled lotro veterans who are committed to ensuring that our culture of friendliness and fairness is maintained while we continue to uphold the end-game raiding reputation NyX is famous for.

Though it certainly would have been easier to contribute from afar, these good people have selflessly decided to take upon themselves additional leadership responsibilities that make life for the rest of us easy and pleasant.

Please take the time when you can to extend a warm hand of congratulations and thanks to these fine people.

Three Cheers for Fen, Kai, & Fox! ! ! :-)

Going Forward

My Kinmates,

We are all missing Laetitia and the great reassuring presence each of us felt whenever he was with us. No matter the challenge or just how impossible the way to raiding victory seemed, we all knew that somehow Laetitia would see us through and he did time and time again. There is no one in LOTRO that I’ve ever interacted with that even came close to his elite level of game knowledge, strategy, and play ability and who was at the same time a genuinely nice guy. We were truly blessed and frankly grew complacent as we took for granted all that he did and made possible for us. I for one miss him already, just as I'm sure we all do.

We all wish things could have been different and that he was still with us, for his sake and ours. But this is not the case and adjustments must be made. With the calling of Laetitia away from the game for the foreseeable future we must reorganize a bit to cover the many jobs and responsibilities he so gracefully managed for our benefit.

We give tribute to Laetitia by maintaining our kin’s reputation and gaming momentum and though I’m saddened by the loss of the greatest leader we’ve ever had, I am confident and enthusiastic about our future and in our ability to tackle the new Isengard material just around the bend.

Why? Because though a team may have a few superstars, it is never by their individual efforts alone that victory is achieved by the group. The loss to our kin with Laetitia’s absence is considerable no doubt, but we have many great people with unique skill sets who are highly talented and it is now time for them to shine.

It is natural to expect however, considering the suddenness of our kin’s change in leadership and the resultant work that is necessary to reorganize and determine who is best suited to fill various roles in our kin, that there is likely to be a small period of what appears to be inefficiency and awkwardness. Don’t be fooled by this. These ‘birth pangs’ are normal and temporary and should be of alarm to no one. As oarmen change positions or move to fill vacancies in the rowing line, there is always a small period during which the boat rocks and looses speed, but make no doubt about it, shortly thereafter there is a burst of speed as forward momentum is reestablished with the unified efforts of the team. So it will be with NyX.

In days and weeks ahead, let us all make a committed effort to do whatever we can to help one another during this transition period so that we may as quickly and as efficiently as possible reestablish our stride. We all love LOTRO and it is right and good that we get back to enjoying it as much as we used to and as soon as possible. So be it.

I am honored to carry the mantle passed to me, but cannot do it alone. I want to thank those of you who have already gone out of your way to offer your support of, faith in, and help to me. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Many of you are better players, strategists, tech-people, etc. than I am at this time and I know it. In humble recognition of that, I will be calling on you as necessary to ask for your help and in knowing most of you as well as I do, feel comfortable in doing so.

Please be patient with me and help me as I do my best to fulfill the promise I made to Laetitia to have NyX carry on well in spite of my deficiencies.

As usual, please come to me with any problems that I can assist you with.

Thank you for your commitment to our kin and for your attention and time.

See you in game. :-)

With Spirit,
Auru
